Itโs $30 to return and quickly STINKS from body heat

Original review about $30 return below, but since it cost to return I gave it to my husband. Heโs a hot sleeper so other than this pillow weโve switched to all cotton, linen or wool bedding and itโs made a huge difference. (Polyester is plastic so it reflects your heat back to you and makes you sweat more and doesnโt breathe.)
I truly would not have kept this pillow except $30 felt like a waste just to return and he got excited about it. So okay, itโs his. Well Iโm the laundry queen in our household (he does all dishes) and I realized very quickly this pillow would need to be washed OFTEN. Like, once a week is NOT enough.
Something about body heat and this material smells HORRIBLE.
Washing it is obviously not easy, so I handwash the outer layer of the pillow with a very gentle soap (bought for silk). And then it has to hang dry.
It doesnโt matter. I can clean it perfectly, no smell remaining whatsoever, but after two nights, itโs so strong I can smell it JUST STANDING NEAR THE BED.
Look. I mentioned my hubs sleeps hot, sure. But heโs hygienic. This should not be such an issue. Itโs never been an issue with any other pillows. The smell doesnโt even smell like him or like B.O. or anything. Itโs awful and legitimately churns my stomach.
But can I throw out the stupid $200 thing? Noooo. Now heโs attached. And Iโm spending hours of my life each week washing it to keep from feeling sick sleeping near it at night. And to avoid having wasted $200. Hate this thing.
DONโT BUY THIS STUPID PILLOW. Dropping from 2 stars to 1 Because of the smell.

I thought I could buy this and see if the height would work for me. It didnโt, and pinched my neck instead. But now the *only* way to return it is to ship through UPS (not return to the UPS Store or Kohlโs or Whole Foods, which would be free).
I was going to return it and try a different size, but such a high price just to *try* it is not worth it to me.
Iโve returned much larger (defective) items in the past without hassle or cost (like an entire heavy duty garage shelf with broken pieces).
Had I known, I would not have ordered in the first place, so I hope this saves someone else.
As for the pillow itself, it was unique, but I couldnโt even really lay my head on it for more than a moment until I had let it air out for more than a week. It REEKED upon arrival. My husband said it smelled like ozone, and my brother compared it to the inside of an airplane. It burned my throat if I tried to lay on it for more than about 30 seconds at a time. Two and a half weeks later, the smell is still slightly there.
So even if it was comfy for me, I would not keep this pillow.
